We were invited to a wedding in Zwettl, which is located in Austria’s far north, close to the Czech Republic. So we thought - why not combine this trip with a short vacation to Český Krumlov and Praha (Prague)? And that is what we did.On Friday, August 12 we left Vienna in the early afternoon and drove four hours to our first destination Český Krumlov. We had reservations for a room at the Penzion Adalbert. At around 7pm we checked in and then strolled through the lovely city center of Krumlov in search for a restaurant. Our dinner was excellent, we enjoyed delicious local food on a terrace right on the beautiful Vltava River underneath the Krumlov castle.Saturday we spent the whole day enjoying the beautiful historic city center, visiting the castle, enjoying lunch (more traditional Czech food) and of course souvenir shopping. Too bad we had to leave for Zwettl, Austria, at 6.30pm, because the B&B where we had reserved a room closed at 9pm. We arrived in Zwettl shortly after 8pm. Our friend’s wedding was on Sunday and took the whole day – from 10am until 1am the next morning. At least for us it ended at 1am, but the official end was at 3am. Monday, August 15 we left Zwettl and headed for Prague, where we arrived at around 4pm. We had reserved a room at the Express by Holiday Inn City Center Prague. The hotel is brand new, the rooms are very comfortable – they even have floor heating in the bathroom. The breakfast buffet is excellent and the staff is very friendly. We can highly recommend this hotel. We had a hard time getting our car into the hotel garage – the entrance is on a small one-way sidestreet, the doors are locked and there is no intercom, bell or any other means of communication with the hotel. After two unsuccessful attempts (meaning two rounds around the block) and the creating of minor traffic jams, we used our cellphone to call the front desk and they sent somebody to unlock the door with a special keycard. In the pouring rain we then walked to the city center where we had dinner at the Hotel Restaurant U Prince. It was delicious. On Tuesday we had much better weather, it was still cloudy, but the rain had gone. We toured, together with millions of other tourists, the gorgeous streets of Prague’s historic city center, walked across the Charles Bridge and went up to the Prague Castle. Before we left for Vienna we had an early dinner at the Restaurant Hybernia. Again the food was very good. At 5pm, exactly 24 hours after we parked our car at the hotel garage, we left Prague and headed back to Vienna. |
Dostali sme pozvánku na svadbu v Zwettli (Dolné Rakúsko). Zwettl leží v bezprostrednej blízkosti hraníc s Českom. Preto sme si mysleli, že skombinovať svadbu s kráktou dovolenkou je dobrý nápad.V piatok, 12. augusta, sme odcestovali z Viedne skoro popoludní a do Českého Krumlova sme išli štyri hodiny. Rezervovali sme si izbu v penzióne Adalbert. Okolo šiestej hodiny sme dorazili do hotela, potom sme sa prechádzali v centre mesta, ktoré je veľmi pekné. Pátranie po reštaurácii bolo veľmi úspešné. Naša večera bola excelentná. Myslíme si, že česká kuchyňa je veľmi chutná. Sedeli sme na terase s výhľadom na rieku a hrad.Sobotu sme strávili v historickom centre mesta, išli sme na hrad a samozrejme sme jedli viacero českých špecialít. Český Krumlov sme bohužiaľ museli opustiť o pol šiestej, lebo penzión v Zwettli, kde sme mali rezerváciu, sa zatvára okolo deviatej. Do Zwettlu sme dorazili niekoľko minút po ôsmej.Svadba priateľov v nedeľu trvala od 10 . hodiny predpoludním do 3. hodiny zavčas rána, ale my sme sa vrátili okolo jednej hodiny.V pondelok, 15. augusta, sme odcestovali z Zwettlu a išli sme do Prahy, kam sme dorazili o štvrtej. Mali sme rezerváciu pre "Express by Holiday Inn City Center Prague". Tento hotel je úplne nový a veľmi príjemný. Má dokonca v kúpeľni podlahové vykurovanie. Raňajkový bufet je veľmi chutný, personál je priateľský a zdvorilý.V prudkom da ždi sme sa prechádzali po centre mesta, kde sme mali večeru v reštaurácii “U prince”. Bola excelentná.Počasie v utorok bol o omnoho lepšie. Bolo sice oblačno až zamračené, ale dážď potom ustal. Spolu s miliónom turistov sme sa prechádzali v centre mesta, kráčali sme po Karlovom moste a potom šli hore na pražský hrad.Následne, okolo štvrtej hodiny , sme večerali v reštaurácii "Hybernia". Jedlo bolo opäť veľmi dobré. O 5. hodine sme odcestovali z Prahy. |
