Peggy's Cove, Nova Scotia
Autumn 2001 - pictures and mini report

Our 2001 Autumn-trip (September 21 thru October 13) led us to Atlantic Canada, Maine, New Hampshire and Vermont. One highlight of the trip was definitely Peggy's Cove, Nova Scotia.

September 28 and 29 we stayed at the Holiday Inn Express Halifax-Bedford, from where we did a half-day excursion to that charming and picturesque fishing village.

Peggy's Cove is less than an hour's drive from Halifax, but due to the beautiful scenery alongside the road, which makes it almost a crime not to stop to take pictures, it takes quite a bit longer.

Once we arrived in Peggy's Cove we were overwhelmed. It's just like standing in the middle of a picture perfect postcard.

Lobster traps, fishermen fixing their nets, shacks where you can eat delicious lobster a ridiculously low prices and the so very famous lighthouse.

This quaint lighthouse that sits high upon the smooth granite coast no longer serves as a beacon, but does operate as a summertime post office - the only Canadian post office housed in a lighthouse.

Peggy's Cove is one of the most photographed places in Canada. The village itself dates from 1811, but the rugged landscape is over 10.000 years old - remains of the last glaciers.
